We are creating a contemporary embroidery which reflects the history and community of St Leonards-on-Sea. Old and new!
We are looking for individuals and groups to join our community project and learn more about the history of Christ Church and St Leonards-on-Sea, whilst helping to sew a beautiful embroidery.
The project is led by artist Elizabeth Betts, and Lucy Bailey, who together designed and managed the production of an international community quilt celebrating the life of Jane Austen on behalf of Jane Austen's House Museum.
Everyone is welcome to join us. All ages and experience!
No experience necessary, we will show you everything. There are opportunities to work collaboratively or independently if you are an experienced stitcher.
We will be working with local groups and hosting community workshops between October 2023 and February 2024.
The final piece will be on display by March 2024.
If you are interested in joining the project, please get in touch. We can come and facilitate workshops with you, or you are welcome to come for a workshop at the church, or you can contribute as an individual!
